US Kids Golf & Ryder Cup Review

Growing through partnerships and collaborations will allow more juniors to be seen and ranked!

US Kids Golf Collaboration

We are excited to announce our collaboration with US Kids Golf to ensure that each of their events will be captured in TUGR Junior Rankings. This is a big day for junior golf rankings and something we’ve been working on for a long time behind the scenes. We’re grateful for the team at US Kids Golf and all the work they do to provide opportunities to juniors all around the world.

US Kids Golf has more than 115 Local Tours and we frequently get requests to load tournaments into our system. This collaboration is a big step forward in continuing our mission and ranking as many juniors in an unbiased, accurate, and understandable way!

With the addition of the US Kids Golf events to our tournament database, TUGR Junior now ranks over 20,000 juniors across Boys and Girls who have played at least 8 competitive rounds over the last 12 months. Because we take an unbiased ‘strokes-gained’ approach, we strive to capture as many events as possible. This approach has allowed us to become the largest (number of kids ranked) and deepest (tournaments captured) junior ranking system out there when comparing similar ranking criteria.

Ryder Cup Recap

I won’t spend too much time on the Ryder Cup other than saying this: Analytics Matter!

If there was ever an event that you should pay attention to analytics to give your team the best chance at winning, it would be the Ryder Cup. The European team lives and breathes the data while the U.S. team continues to make pairings based on feel. It’s not a coincidence that in the last two Ryder Cups, the Euros have won the team portion of the event 22-10.

It’s been well documented, but the Morikawa/Harris pairing was (quite literally) the worst statistical pairing you could put out together for the U.S. team, of the 132 possible pairings, and yet, they were sent out twice.

Until the the U.S. learns to embrace analytics, and actually make decisions based off these predictive metrics, I don’t think much will change in the future.

TUGR Analytics

TUGR strives to provide a ‘turn-key’ solution to analytics to help you make better decisions with your game. Understanding your tendencies will help you avoid common mistakes and help you rise in the rankings. Take advantage of the metrics. Remember, TUGR is the only place where you can get both rankings and analytics in one place.

I now have the opportunity to sit on multiple ‘Coaches Boards’ as part of our merger with College Golf Experience, and interact with these coaches every week. I can promise you that college coaches use TUGR Rankings and Analytics to help them find the players for their team.

As always, reach out with any questions.

Thanks,
Jeff
