Growing the Game with Opportunity

The Otter Creek Championship is providing an amazing opportunity to play in a Professional event.

At TUGR, our mission is to help fuel better decisions, lower scores, and epic days on the golf course. Epic days often come from epic opportunities, which is why we are excited to partner with the Otter Creek Championship and promoting their event.

The Otter Creek Championship

The Otter Creek Championship, which is part of the LPGA Epson Tour, is set to take place this summer at Otter Creek Golf Course in Columbus, Indiana. The event will feature some of the brightest rising stars in women's golf and is set against the beautiful backdrop of Otter Creek’s Robert Trent Jones Sr. layout.

In an exciting development for aspiring players, an Open Qualifier will be held on June 17th, giving up-and-coming female amateurs and professionals the chance to secure one of two spots in the main event. The top two finishers at the qualifier will earn their places in the Otter Creek Championship.

The Otter Creek Championship and its Open Qualifier represent a trend that we have seen in recent years where professional events are providing qualifier opportunities for players, including amateurs, to gain entry into their event. The Otter Creek tournament committee is passionate about making this event, and Open Qualifier, an incredible opportunity and way to grow the game for competitive junior girls.

If you would like to enter the event, please get in touch with Otter Creek's Head Golf Professional, Andrew G. Weisheit, to receive an application for event entry at [email protected]

Answering Your Questions

As TUGR continues to grow, we consistently field question about the ranking system methodology. We have an entire FAQ portion of our website that answers many questions, but I’ll answer a few that are most often asked:

  • Are you a ‘points-based system’?

    • No! TUGR is not a points-based system. TUGR is akin to what is generally known as a strokes-gained type methodology where we match up the relative performance (scores) of a player against the performance of his/her competitors.

  • Are more recent tournaments weighted more?

    • Yes! Tournaments lose weight for each week that passes placing greater importance on tournaments today.

  • Does TUGR rank 1-day events?

    • Absolutely? Whether it’s an USGA or AJGA Qualifier, or thousands of the other 1-day events, because TUGR is a strokes-based system, every event can be accurately ranked without the need for arbitrary adjustments.

As TUGR continues to grow, we are getting MANY requests each week to add events. This week was no different. While we added many that were requested, there is still a small backlog that we expect to get loaded this week. Thanks for your understanding.

As always, reach out with any questions.
